Pilot

Steven Karp is a young man going off to college for the first time. He wasn't very popular in high school, so he's looking forward to wiping the slate clean and starting over in college. The day he gets to school, he is dispatched by his handsome roommate, Lloyd to go invite girls to the party they're having on their dorm floor that night. Steven tries not to let on that he's never had much experience with girls or hosting parties before. He and his other suitemates, Marshall and Ron, set off to wrangle up the ladies. Much to their surprise, the girls show up. Steven is enjoying the party until his father, Hal, shows up to tell him that he and his mother are getting a divorce. Rachel and Lizzie, the guys' female neighbors, are also at the party. Lizzie is determined to have fun in spite of her jealous back-home boyfriend, Eric, while Rachel is thinking about leaving school entirely. Steven is crying alone in his room when Lizzie walks in. He covers and says that he's just really overwhelmed by the first day of school. Lizzie commiserates and suggests that they inaugurate their first day of freedom by having sex. Steven is stunned, but not unwilling. Hal, meanwhile, ends up getting drunk at the party with Steven's new roommates. He warns everyone about the perils of marriage before he passes out. The next morning, Steven wakes up to Hal's hairy foot instead of Lizzie. Lizzie worries to Rachel that she made a mistake cheating on her boyfriend. Hal leaves, his face covered in graffiti and confident in his son's successful future at college.

Eric Visits

Lizzie drops a bomb on Steven as they walk across campus. She shows him all of the gifts from her boyfriend, Eric, and then tells Steven that she's going to break up with him when he comes to campus later that day. Steven hides his excitement in front of Lizzie, but gushes in front of the guys. He plans to move in on her once she dumps Eric. Ron shows up with a keg of beer left over from another floor's party. They have to return the keg later that day, but they can keep the beer, so they load as many containers as they can find with the beer. Rachel rushes over to tell the boys that Eric is here. They all go over to meet him and size him up. Eric appears to have no idea he is about to be dumped. Rachel and Marshall discuss this and it leads into Marshall confessing he feels as if girls never notice him. Rachel suggests a pet, like a snake, to help spruce up his image. Steven comes over to see how things are going with the break up, and Rachel and Marshall don't know because Lizzie's been in the room with Eric for a while. Eric comes out of Lizzie's room in his underwear. It appears as if he's just had sex with Lizzie. Steven then gets roped into showing Eric where the shower is. After showing Eric to the bathroom, Steven runs back to interrogate Lizzie and kick start her into breaking up with Eric. She admits that they haven't broken up, but they did have what seemed like "goodbye" sex. As the gang continues to drink, Ron admits to Lloyd that his favorite movie is You've Got Mail and suggests they watch it together – so they can bond. Steven sees Lizzie alone, and she says that she finally broke up with Eric. Steven goes to the bathroom in a good mood, and in the middle of taking a shower finds Eric crying in the next stall. He's devastated by the break up. Steven feels bad for him and takes him back to his room to comfort him. Marshall and Rachel go to the pet store to try out different pets. The only one Marshall can afford is a fifteen dollar bird. Steven gives Eric some of the beer. Eric tells him of all the good times he had with Lizzie – that are now over. Steven bonds with Eric and says that Eric might still be able to get Lizzie back. Meanwhile Marshall takes his bird to the quad to try out his new look. Unfortunately, someone spooks the bird and it "beaks" Marshall in the eye. Ron and Lloyd get into a punching match when Lloyd doesn't like "You've Got Mail." They both feel sick and head for the bathroom. Steven and Eric stay up all night making a present for Lizzie at Kopy Town. Eric takes them to Lizzie. Ron and Lloyd pour out the beer – they've learned that binge drinking is not good. Marshall and Rachel show up; Marshall's eye is cut up from the bird attack. Rachel thinks it's a good look for him. Lizzie tells Steven that she got back together with Eric. Steven thinks it's for the best. Lizzie and Steven see Eric off. Steven keeps Lizzie's pillowcase with Eric's face on it for his own and falls asleep nose-to-nose with his new buddy, Eric.

Addicts

Ron rounds up the gang and leads them to the main quad with the charge "They're giving away free money!" The Quest credit card folks are on campus enrolling students. We fast-forward three weeks when the cards arrive. Ron's invests his cash-on-credit in stocks. He's doing well and wants Lloyd to join his successful venture so he doesn't get lonely at the top. Lloyd resists because he's against greed—all he needs is his craft. Marshall withdraws $500 with no intention of spending it—but just to show it off. He names his money ". He dubs his stack of cash "the wad." Steven is upset that he got a D+ for his efforts on a Lit. paper. Perry offers to hook Steven up with a guy who can write a paper for him, and "he takes credit cards." Marshall tries to discourage Steven. Steven and Marshall visit Dave, the eccentric genius who sells students papers. Steven pays Dave $50 on credit to write a paper on Madame Bovary, which he nervously turns in the next day. Ron gloats in his online investing success. He's made $2,600 in two days. This is enough to convince Lloyd to join in Ron's enterprise. Steven gets an A on the paper Dave wrote. He's succeeding in school for the first time and it feels great. He decides to buy some more papers. Lloyd gets as swept up in the monetary windfall as Ron. They splurge on tailored leather suit and a flat screen computer monitor. Lizzie and Rachel ask the guys to tone down their celebration because they're trying to write papers and it's hard. Steven takes them to see Dave. They are impressed with Dave's intellect and all three order papers due the next day. Dave says "no problem," he can get it done because he takes tons of speed. Steven, Lizzie and Rachel savor their newfound free time by hanging out and horsing around. Ron and Lloyd's stock in Bio-Chemica (maker of the dish gut) plummets due to religious protests. Hal makes a surprise visit and sees Steven's A paper; he's very proud of him. Steven gets a D on the second paper Dave wrote for him. He and the girls go to David's to demand their money back. Dave, who's spent his money on a PS2 system, can't refund their money but offers to write their next papers for free. Steven can't say no—he's become addicted. Ron and Lloyd return their luxury items and scramble to solve their debt problem. Lloyd tries unsuccessfully to earn change performing Hamlet on the quad while Ron tries to boost the stock by praising it on financial talk radio. Steven, Lizzie and Rachel return to Dave's for their papers and find him hopped up on speed and barely coherent. He has not finished their papers so they are forced to pull an all nighter to write their papers themselves. They have learned their lesson. Steven is just about finished the next day when his computer crashes. Marshall offers his wad to Ron and Lloyd who use it to get their money back. Ron gets a little greedy once the ball gets rolling again and Lloyd has to force Ron out of the way and sell the stock, earning them a total of $27.00. Marshall is glad that he will have his share ($8.00) to wrap around his wad. That night, Ron is back to his old tricks, investing in front of his computer. Marshall hears him yelling at the screen and is curious but Ron covers by telling him he's getting internet porn. He resumes yelling at the screen. "Go up! Go up!"

Sick in the Head

Marshall is feeling under the weather and Ron advises him to go to the campus health clinic. Rachel is against that idea, telling them that all doctors are quacks and natural medicine is the way to go. She knows several natural remedies and offers to take care of Marshall while he's sick. Ron convinces Marshall it's a good idea, because it will make Rachel feel smart if she actually helps Marshall get better. And that leads to "boob time." Marshall is more than happy to accept the offer because it will mean spending more time with Rachel. Steven is fed up with Lloyd's sexual escapades because he's constantly being put out of his room. He starts out sleeping on the common room couch, but Ron forcefully takes it over after Marshall gets sick and banishes Steven to the rec room. The rec room is filled with other losers whose roommates have a lot of sex. At first, Steven is very uncomfortable, but then he starts to bond with the strange bunch. The next day, Steven is angry when Lloyd informs him that he'll be "sexiled" for another night. Steven blows up because it's not even for the same girl. Lloyd doesn't even care about these women that he's throwing Steven out of the room for. Lloyd has something to think about. Marshall is steadily getting worse and Ron tells him that the fun with Rachel is over, it's time for him to go to the doctor. Marshall, through a haze of disease, tells Ron that he likes having Rachel dote on him and doesn't want it to end. She even slept in his room to keep an eye on him. Rachel assures Ron that Marshall is getting better, it just takes a while, and it always looks worse before the healing begins. Ron is skeptical. Marshall's health continues to degenerate. Lloyd's latest female visitor, Rebecca, is pleasantly surprised when Lloyd wants to "talk" after sleeping with her. He begins a relationship with her, only to find out that she's extremely needy and doesn't think Lloyd is being very sensitive to those needs. Lloyd is trying to make the relationship last "at least until Friday," but Rebecca knows that his feelings are not genuine and kicks him out of her room. When Lloyd arrives at his own room, he notices a scrunchy on his doorknob. Steven is in there with Nicola, a loser girl from the rec room. They are making out, awkwardly, just to get back at Lloyd. Their next stop is Nicola's room, so she can get even with her own roommate. Rachel wakes Ron up in a panic and apologizes for disagreeing with him about doctors. Ron is curious about the turn around and Rachel shows him the reason. Marshall is passed out in the hallway, half in and half out of the elevator. It looks like he tried to shower and go to class, but forgot to rinse his hair or put on pants. Ron is amused. Together, Ron and Rachel carry Marshall to the campus clinic.

The Assistant

Everyone, especially Ron, is excited about Adam Sandler coming to perform at UNEC. Hal shows up, anxious to go to see Sandler with everyone. Ron and Marshall are unsympathetic to Steven's complaints about Lloyd' s bonding with Hal. After the concert, to everyone's thrilled surprise, Perry, who is on the activities committee, has arranged for Adam to hang out with them on their floor after the show. Ron is obnoxiously nervous and wants Adam's visit to be perfect so he'll come back. He frets over everything, including what type of music to play. While everyone else is thrilled too, Rachel couldn't care less. She chooses to study in her room instead. After the show, Adam and his friends, Loughran and Covert, are on their way to meet the gang on the fourth floor. Loughran is being a baby because he's hungry and he doesn't want to be the one to order the pizza again. He's fed up with his job. Adam and Covert tease him and, when they get out of the elevator, Loughran storms off in another direction in search of food. Everyone is gathered around Adam in the rec room. Ron can barely speak, he's too nervous. Marshall tells Adam he's a big fan of the movie "Billy Madison," but doesn't really like any of the movies he's made since then. Adam whispers to Covert, Covert whispers to Ron, and Ron tells Marshall to get the hell out. Marshall leaves, but comes back with a guitar asking Adam to play the Hanukah song. Everyone yells at Marshall for being a pest. Hal takes the guitar and proceeds to sing a mean-spirited song about his ex-wife, Steven's mom. This freaks Adam Sandler out, and he decides it's time to go. He asks Lizzie to come along. Without hesitation, she says, "Yes." Loughran stumbles into Rachel's room asking for food. She gives him some rice cakes and they talk about how Loughran is happy working for Adam Sandler, but wants something more. Rachel urges him to quit and try something new. They end up sleeping together, and Loughran takes her advice. The next day, Adam calls to find out why Loughran didn't come to the next show with him. To Rachel's horror, Loughran tells Adam he's in love and is going to enroll in school again. Adam is surprisingly happy for him. All the guys fight. Steven is pissed that his Dad is hanging out and that Lizzie left with Adam. Ron's pissed that Adam left. Marshall pissed because he's getting blamed for Adam leaving and Lloyd is pissed at Steven for not appreciating his dad. Lloyd decides to spend more time with Hal if Steven won't. Lizzie comes back from her night out with Adam and tries to convince everyone that all they did together was watch movies and eat food. Loughran accompanies Rachel to class and winds up embarrassing her and throwing her professor in a fountain. Rachel begs Ron to get rid of Loughran but Ron wants Loughran to stay, because maybe then Adam will come back. Rachel begs, and while Ron is trying to convince Loughran to go, Adam calls and recognizes Ron's voice. Ron is elated that Adam remembers him. On the phone, Adam entices Loughran to come back with the new Tivo they bought and agrees to order the pizza next. Loughran "breaks up" with Rachel to go hang out with his buddies again. Rachel couldn't be more relieved. Lloyd and Steven apologize to each other. Lloyd reminds Steven that Hal is going through a rough time and Steven agrees to let his dad hang out with them. Hal and Lloyd show the gang, including Steven, the gag tape they made of trapping Mr. Burundi in a telephone booth with duct tape. Everyone is hysterical, but none more than Steven. Lizzie calls Eric to break the news to him that she had sex with Adam Sandler. Instead of being angry and hurt, Eric is thrilled. He loves Adam Sandler and totally understands that it's a once in a lifetime chance that she had to take. Like if he had a chance to sleep with Melissa Joan Hart.

Eric Visits Again

Steven is writing a paper that Lizzie is going to give comments on. Lloyd observes them talking and tells Steven he's ruining his chances with Lizzie by becoming her friend. Eric and his friends Greg and Eugene are hanging out at "Kopy Town" talking about Greg's cheating girlfriend. Eric says that Lizzie would never cheat on him and his friends disagree. Eric tries to prove it by calling Rachel on speaker phone. That's when Rachel lets it slip that Steven and Lizzie had sex. Eric is instantly on the road with Greg and Eugene, headed to UNEC to kick Steven's ass. When they get there, Lizzie denies it, telling Eric that Rachel doesn't know what she's talking about because she's drunk all the time. Then Steven walks up, wearing a robe and boxers from the shower. Eric asks Steven how having sex with Lizzie was. Steven replies to Lizzie with, "You told him?" And the chase is on. Steven gets away from Eric but ends up having to hide in a storage room. Eric and Lizzie fight, and just as Eric is calming down, he finds Steven's disk and is infuriated with Lizzie for "sharing disks" with Steven. Lloyd talks to the other guys about getting Steven's back when it comes time to fight but Marshall and Lloyd don't want to. Ron thinks Steven deserves it and should just take his medicine like a man. Greg and Eugene show up in the common room and ask if they can wait for Eric there. They win the guys over by letting them know they're over twenty-one. Lloyd brings Steven his jean shorts but can't bring the disk he asked for because Eric has it. He tells Steven he's going to have to fight if he loves Lizzie. Steven admits that he loves Lizzie so much that he's in pain every day because of it. However, he has successfully avoided fighting his whole life and doesn't want to start now. Lloyd punches him to show him there's nothing to be afraid of. They start fighting. Lizzie tells Rachel she ruined her life, but Tina is wise and tells Lizzie that it's not Rachel's fault. "You do the crime you should do the time." Marshall interrupts Lloyd and Steven's practice fight with a telephone call saying Eric is gone and left the disk on Lizzie's desk, so it's safe for Steven to return. When he hangs up the phone, we see that Eric is holding a staple gun to his head, saying, "Good boy, Marshall." When Steven returns, the trap is sprung and it's go time. Eric and Steven argue over who will start. Eric provokes Steven who finally hauls off and punches him. Lloyd stands proudly by. Steven tries to tell Eric it's over but Eric isn't ready to quit. He pushes Steven who falls into a piece of furniture and breaks his tooth. Everyone is horrified, especially Eric, who apologizes profusely and gives Steven his disk back. Lloyd tells Steven he kicked his first ass. Lizzie goes after Eric, who has run out of the room. Lizzie and Eric talk and make up, but he sees the pictures of her new friends on the wall and tells her that now isn't the right time for them. They break up. Eric holds Lizzie tightly and tells her to promise to never drink and drive because that really worries him. Steven comes in the next day to find Lizzie taking down pictures of Eric. He tells her his tooth is fine. It was just a cap. He lost the tooth in third grade when his friend bet him he couldn't bite into a rock. He notices Eric's pictures are gone, and Lizzie tells him they broke up. He then notices that he made the wall and is very happy. He smiles at her with his broken tooth.

Hell Week (2)

Hazing has begun for Steven, and Marshall, Ron and Lloyd can't believe the kind of abuse he's putting up with. They wish he'd just forget about this fraternity nonsense and come hang out again, but Steven is determined to make it through the hazing. Meanwhile, after Rachel refuses to share her pizza with Tina and Lizzie, the girls begin to worry that their friend is falling victim to the Freshman Fifteen. They wonder whether to intervene to keep Rachel from ballooning any further than she already has. The next day, Lizzie realizes something – she hates the TDZ little sisters. Refusing to put up with their idiocy, she simply quits. Steven and the other pledges undergoing hazing are feeling pretty much the same way. After a particularly humiliating day of hazing, Steven rallies the pledges and they all quit TDZ in unison, leaving the "geek frat" boys high and dry. Back at the dorms, Lizzie and Tina intervene and (delicately) tell Rachel that she's put on some weight. Of course, Rachel lashes out at her friends, and a bout of name-calling ensues. The TDZ boys don't take desertion quietly. Books gathers his brothers and harasses Steven and his friends, trapping them in an elevator and covering them in chocolate pudding and feathers. But the guys aren't about to take the abuse lying down. They retaliate against the TDZs by dousing Books in bacon fat; the TDZs answer by stealing all the furniture from the guys' room; the guys retaliate by stealing (and molesting in various ways) the letter "THETA" from the TDZ house. After a few more name-calling encounters with her friends, Rachel finally realizes that she's put on an inordinate amount of weight when PB and the Samoan – two of the geekiest guys she knows – hit on her in the hallway. If they suddenly think she's in their league, she most definitely has a weight problem. The TDZ standoff with Steven and the boys finally comes to a conclusion. Steven and Books negotiate a deal in which the pledges will go back to pledging and join TDZ just as long as there's no more hazing and they make Lee, the most put-upon pledge, the VP of the frat. Knowing that the frat is dead without new pledges, Books agrees. A little while later, after carbs have been banned from the girls' dorm room, Rachel approaches the Samoan and PB. She's looking svelte and extremely sexy to the point where the boys become jibbering idiots.
