It's Will's first day at his new sixth form college. He previously went to a private school, but since his dad walked out on his mum he's had to downgrade to the local comprehensive. And if his life already wasn't tough enough, Will hastily makes enemies out of his head of sixth form and the school psycho. In an effort to fit in, Will attaches himself to what he considers an average group of boys and tags along with them as they attempt to get served in a pub for the very first time.
Will, Simon, Jay and Neil decide to bunk off school and attempt to buy alcohol with Will disguised as an adult. They head to Neil's house to get drunk after succeeding, and Simon has an alcohol induced revelation about his next door neighbor Carli.
Simon has his first driving test and promises to take Will, Jay and Neil to visit Thorpe Park to ride roller coasters and pick up girls. There's only one problem with his promise - Simon is a rubbish driver.
Will finds out that going to a mixed sex school isn't too bad after all, as he pulls the most popular girl in the year above.
Will, Simon and Neil call Jay's bluff and agree to go to the Camber Sands meeting of the Caravan Club to see, if it really is as 'fun' as he makes out. Things soon start to go wrong when Will skids, Jay lies and Simon makes an extraordinary choice on a first date.
It's the end of the school term, and Will has been voted chairman of the Christmas prom. He was the only person who actually wanted the job, but he's still taking it seriously and has roped Simon, Jay and Neil into helping. It's a big night for all of the boys, they all have something to prove. Will, to his school; Jay, that he can be a DJ; Simon, to Carli; Neil to his teacher. There's a lot at stake, and naturally they do their best to make a mess of everything.
The boys go on a geography field trip. Jay tries to find a mythical yummy mummy. Simon and Will compete over the new girl, and Neil finds a teacher likes him a little too much.
The boys go off to Work Experience. Will to his disgust ends up at a garage by mistake. Simon is chased by a younger woman and gets beaten up by a 12 year old boy.
Will tries to throw a dinner party on his birthday that clashes with a "sex" party that his friends haven't been invited to. Both parties are attended with the usual results. Meanwhile, Neil explains a strange use for Lego...
In order to seize the day, the boys decide to spend Saturday night out in London, but the way to the clubs turns out to be more complicated than they think.
Will becomes the coordinator for the school's Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. Straight away he uses it as a chance to catch an older university student by helping her out at the local old people's home. Simon won't help out because he has problems of his own when his parents split up.
Will is getting stressed as the exams are coming up. Simon seems to be getting on with Carli and helps her revise. They look back over the year and realize things could have been improved, but overall they are reasonably happy.
A new term starts, and Will, Simon, Jay, and Neil have been left out of Carli's charity fashion show. However, unforeseen circumstances mean Carli resorts to recruiting the four friends at the last minute - something she might regret.
Simon is preparing to go to his first concert since Take That at Wembley Arena, wanting to impress an attractive girl, but Will, Jay, and Neil tag along and threaten to ruin his night.
Will and Simon goes to double date. And then there is Neil's 18th birthday.
Simon and his new girlfriend Tara are going to visit her sister at university. The other boys invite themselves along - Will on the pretext that he wants to take a look around his absolute last choice of university, Jay so he can give Simon his ''expert'' sex advice, and Neil because he has nothing better to do.
Will's mum is away for a weekend with an old schoolfriend. Will is left home alone and the other boys take full advantage of the situation. They hammer the Ocado account, empty the fridge and rifle through Polly's knicker drawer among other things, but despite this there's a chance even Will might have a good time. That is of course until morning... Please note: No animals were harmed during the making of this episode.
Will decides to organise one last trip for the gang before they go their separate ways. The four heroes pack the Fiat for a camping trip in the countryside. Will draws on all his scout training - the same however, cannot be said for Jay, Neil and Simon who aren't prepared for the great outdoors at all.
