The dogs go to attend a hot dog diner only to find that it opens the next day. The Big Dog recalls hearing 'time flys if you're having fun'. So the two dogs embark on trying to spend the next 24 hours having fun so it's over faster.
The dogs are sold as seeing eye dogs to Hollywood, who's blind after an eye exam. But Big Dog is more concerned with finding a fire hydrant and Little Dog keeps claiming he knows a shortcut, which involves going through a construction yard.
The dogs are mistaken as farm hands on Farmer Hollywood's farm. Wanting breakfest, the dogs must first learn how to 'round up the doggies' to earn their meal.
The dogs try to get into a dog food commercial for the free food, but they accidentally wander into the wrong studio where they're filming a jungle picture. It stars Hollywood, and he mistakes the dogs as the monkey stunt men.
The dogs wander onto a farm run by Hollywood. As Hollywood describes what the purpose of a farm is, the dogs get hungry and decide to want breakfest: Cornflakes! Hollywood goes on to show them the whole agriculture process, while Big Dog simply plants a corn cob in the soil.
Big Dog loses the can he's chewing on. After following the path it rolled down, they find it's now trapped behind an automatic door. After much thought, Little Dog concludes the door will not open for them because they're not wearing shoes. So they then go out hunting for shoes.
It's garbage day, and the two dogs scrounge through a trash can for things. But a heated debate ensues when they find a used toilet seat that both of them want.
Big Dog is sleeping and Little Dog is in trouble. A cat has wandered into the alley and has placed itself between the two dogs. With Little Dog's dependence on Big Dog's ability to scare cats, he must find a way to wake Big Dog from the other side of the cat.
Little Dog is distraught. He's lost his favorite bone (which is actually just sitting on the back of his head). He asks Big Dog to help him find it and the two set out searching far and wide for the 'lost' bone.
The dogs want to eat at the 'Pie in the Sky' restaurant. But they keep winding up at different stores in the mall that all employ Hollywood, who keeps selling the dogs products and telling them to just 'charge it'.
Hollywood is Noah, building his Ark and gathering two of every animal. When it comes time to get two dogs, he finds Big Dog and Little Dog. But the two prove to be very taxing on Hollywood and the rest of the animals.
While walking along, Big Dog sticks his head in a hole in a fense. Little Dog panics and starts to devise a way to get his head unstuck. When all seems hopeless, Little Dog decides to adapt to life without Big Dog, but finds it impossible to do.
The dogs happen upon a huge bone that's being shipped to a museum. When the bone is taken inside, the two dogs decide to wait for it to come back out. But they wait so still, the movers think they're some exhibit and take them into the museum, too. Once inside, the dogs decide to wait no longer and decide to 'go inside' after the bone.
The two dogs meet Red, who's off to her ill grandmother's house to give her some cheese cake. But the dogs lead her to the Three Bears house where they eat their porridge, sit in their chairs, and sleep in their beds.
The dogs are once again tempted to follow Red (this time with the promise of BBQ-flavored canned cheese). They wind up at the witch's house from Hansel and Gretel. There, they are forced to feed Red until she is ready to be eaten.
The two dogs are hungry and want Happy Granny dog food. But it belongs to Red who's once again off to Grandma's house. Upon arrival, Red gives the wolf the classic interigation, while the wolf fights with granny in his stomache.
The dogs encounter a bum in front of the white house. A fight ensues which results in the foreign ambassadors and Big Dog switching places. While Big Dog is off attending a political party at the White House, Little Dog (who thinks the ambassador is Big Dog) tries to get his buddy to snap out of his 'amnesia'.
The dogs want 'Fudgie Scout Cookies', but don't know how to go about getting them. After close examination, the Little Dog comes to the conclusion that you need a door. The dogs then find a house that is empty and has a door. They then take on the challenge of both getting the girl to come to their door and then getting the door open.
The dogs find themselves waiting in line at the post office. But they soon realize that they didn't know what the post office was even for. So the dogs spend the day waiting in line, signing up for the draft, and attacking mail carriers.
The dogs are hanging out with Kenny, who's in love with Buffy. But Kenny is too nervous to talk to her, so the dogs talk to her for him. But Little Dog misinterprets everything Buffy's says, leading Kenny on. Soon, Buffy is playing with Kenny and the dogs, but only because she thinks the dogs belong to him.
Kenny's regular school teacher is on sick leave (nervous breakdown), so Mr. Hollywood (or Mr. H.) is substituting. But he's in for a challenge when he meets Kenny and his class.
It's show and tell at Kenny's school. He originally planned to bring his father's bowling trophy, but it breaks before he even gets on the bus. He then finds the two dogs and decides to bring them instead.
Big Dog falls in love with a gerbil in a pet store. The two dogs then go into the store only to be hasseled by the store owner Hollywood.
While spending the day in the park, Little Dog happens upon a little toy dog that just barks twice, then does a flip. Little Dog interprets this as a sign of affection. Meanwhile, Big Dog is trying to return a frisbee to the girl who threw it to him.
The dogs happen upon a little home that's having a cook-out. Upon investigating, they find a family that's very Brady Bunch-esque. The family is getting into situations that they're 'learning from'.
While passing a payphone with the phone of the hook, the dogs are told by the automatic teller to deposit 25¢. Not wanting to disobey, the dogs then go in search for a quarter. This leads them to a cash machine, a trip to the psychiatrist, and a money making scheme.
The two dogs get to be on Let's Make A Right Price! All non-winners on the show get a box of doggy treats. Little Dog keep bidding a dollar, but he keeps winning everything but the doggie treats.
The dogs are at the Grand Canyon trying to solve a puzzle. Upon completion, Little Dog says the word 'Jerk' should've been part of the solution. His voice echoes across the valley, and the two misinterpret the echo as another dog insulting them. The two then embark on a mission across the Grand Canyon to confront the 'other dog'.
Big Dog and Little Dog inject their own warped brand of humor into an old-fashioned, black and white, silent cartoon, where they save a young girl from a villanous feline fella, and get into all kinds of wacky hijinks.
The dogs happen upon a Tennis Club, where they see many balls being batted back and forth. Little Dog wants to get in and chew on them. Upon getting in, the Little Dog is overwhelmed by how many there are laying about.
The Big Dog awakes in the middle of the night to 'do business'. When he finds a spot, Little Dog stops him. He then makes the point that this is their home, so they need to find a more suitable place. They wind up in a indoor bathroom, where hilarity ensues
After seeing the intermission commercial for the concession stand on a drive-in theater screen, the dogs conclude that the food must be just as big. So they go into the lot and get into all sorts of movie related hi-jinks.
The Little Dog wants to recover some bones he's buried in the 'Paws and Reflect' pet cemetery. But his head becomes stuck inside a skull, the Big Dog becomes afraid of him and hides.
The dogs awake to find a delivery of ice cream products before them. Little Dog suspects that this is a dream come true, so they must be asleep. Together, the two set out to wake themselves up.
The dogs are headed to the Lucky Nugget to partake of the 'Super Cheap Economy Style One Pound Hot Dog Buffet'. But they're early, so they wait. The Big Dog finds a quarter and uses it in a slot machine. By stroke of luck, they win the jackpot, attracting the attention of casino owner Hollywood. Wanting to win his money back, Hollywood takes the dogs around to the other games. But the dogs just want the buffet, so they keep betting everything, only to win more.
The dogs investigate a truck full of what they think is ice cream. It's actually the food that's being stored in the next space shuttle. Once on board, the dogs accidently launch the craft into space.
The dogs have enlisted in a military-esque boot camp that trains cartoon characters to become hardcore cartoons.
In a desperate attempt for food, the dogs climb up onto a 3D billboard advertising soup with a giant soup bowl. Upon finding the soup bowl is empty (or as the Little Dog describes it 'dry'), Big Dog begins to fill the bowl with spit. But soon he dries out and Little Dog must find a way to rehydrate the Big Dog.
For no apparent reason, the two dogs switch bodies. Noticing no effect, the two set out in search for food only to find their new bodies are non-compliant with their stupid personalities.
