In 994, a band of Vikings attack castle Wyvern in Scotland, but are driven back by the gargoyles protecting it. While retreating, they wow revenge... and someone in the castle may just want to help them with that.
Goliath returns to the castle to find all but a handful of his clan destroyed, and the humans abducted. The gargoyles defeat the Vikings and rescue the captives, but a tragic misunderstanding leaves them cursed to remain stone statues day and night... until a rich 20th century businessman takes an interest in them.
Not satisfied with Xanatos's explanation, detective Maza decides to take a look around the castle by herself. Xanatos wants the Gargoyles help in retrieving the stolen data.
Elisa and Goliath are ambushed in the park by a group of commandos. They try to escape, but dawn comes and Goliath turns to stone, leaving Elisa having to lead the pursuers away alone. Upon Goliath's return to the castle, Xanatos reunites him with and old 'friend'. The Gargoyles accept to help Xanatos retrieve his stolen disks from Cyberbiotics.
The Gargoyles attack the data storage facilities, and when they return successful, Xanatos decides they've outlived their usefulness.
Lexington makes contact with his TV heroes - The Pack - in hopes of finding allies. But for his surprise he finds that they are far from heroic in real life...
Demona convinces Brooklyn that humans and gargoyles can never live together, and asks him to help her show Goliath the same.
Broadway accidentally shoots Elisa with her gun. Wrecked by regret, he takes her to the hospital and then goes off on his own to take his frustration out on an criminal he can find. When the others hear, they assume it was the work of a gangster Elisa was investigating, and set out to take him down - permanently.
As Xanatos is about to get out of prison, he wonders what to do about the Gargoyles. As luck would have it, he is contacted by a stranger calling himself MacBeth who offers to take the creatures off his hands.
Xanatos donates jewel of his - the Eye of Odin - to the city's museum. Then he has one of his robot gargoyles steal it back, framing Goliath. Elisa is assigned a new partner, despite her loud objections.
Demona forces Goliath into a confrontation, wounding him badly and leaving Hudson having to protect him until dawn... A situation that reminds the old gargoyle of a mission he led over a millennia ago to recover a book of spells from the Archmage necessary to save the poisoned Prince.
Xanatos offers Elisa's brother a job as pilot and bodyguard, and he certainly gets his moneys worth when Jackal and Hyena are ordered to assassinate him.
Concluding that science or sorcery alone are not enough to stop the gargoyles, Demona and Xanatos try combine the two, rebuilding a gargoyle from the rubble left at the castle and filling out the rest with cybernetics.
A mysterious masked man, who calls himself Coyote, breaks the Pack out of prison. He appoints himself leader and all together set a trap for the gargoyles. Lexington's anger towards the Pack blinds his judgment and puts himself and the clan at risk.
Someone is taking people off the street and turning them into gargoyle-like creatures. Unsurprisingly, the trail leads to leads to one of Xanatos's labs.
Coldstone reawakens, but damage to machine in head leaves him completely confused and unable to control his actions.
An archeological dig uncovers a set of scrolls, believed to contain Merlin's spells. Macbeth sends his mercenaries to try to capture the scrolls, but the gargoyles manage to stop them, getting separated from Hudson and Broadway in the process, both having one of the two scroll containers.
Demona steels a magical mirror to summon an elf named Puck, and forces him use his magic against Goliath and the humans. The result is however not quite what she had in mind...
Matt disappears while looking into his pet obsession - the Illuminati, and Broadway insist in tagging along when Elisa investigates.
Xanatos proposes to Fox, giving her the Eye of Odin as an engagement present. Soon afterwards soon afterwards, a huge wolf-like humanoid starts appearing throughout the city, devastating everything in it's path while looking for food.
Xanatos and Fox are getting married, and the groom asks Goliath to be his best man. Unsurprisingly, it turns out to be another of Xanatos's schemes, this time to obtain an piece of an artifact Goliath has - the Phoenix Gate, capable of opening doorways trough time.
While Demona prepares to cast a spell on the entire city through a pirate TV broadcast, she remembers her life after Goliath and the others had been turned to stone by the Magus.
The gargoyles awaken to find nearly all of the inhabitants of New York turned to stone. Nearly a thousand years before, a young man named MacBeth must decide how much he's willing to sacrifice for love.
While Xanatos works on breaking the spell, the story of MacBeth continues, as the lord is forced to take up arms against his brother, the King, when the Weird Sisters prophesies his ascension to the throne of Scotland.
The plan to end the spell is sent into motion, but Demona make preparations to stop it, killing Xanatos and the gargoyles. In the past, MacBeth must decide if his alliance with Demona is worth a war with England.
MacBeth and Demona are working together; they steal Coldstone and use him as bait to lure the gargoyles into a trap. Elisa is to face Demona by herself and save the clan.

The gargoyles try to stop a jewel store burglary, but the gargoyles end up the main suspects when the thieves escape. When the police capture Goliath, he asks the others not to break him out, confident that the justice system will find him innocent.
The Clone Clan are deteriorating. Goliath must decide whether to work together with Sevarius or to leave them to die.
Angela still believes that Demona can be redeemed. The Clan, particularly Goliath and Brooklyn, try to convince her that her mother will never change. But in the end Angela touches Demona in a way that neither of them will ever know.
After being knocked out in a battle with the Quarrymen, Goliath dreams that he is a human married to Elisa, in a world where gargoyles are unknown.
Goliath is brainwashed by the Illuminati, and sent out to kill a visiting European president.
Proteus has escaped New Olympus and come to New York, followed by Taurus. He takes on various shapes to pit Elisa and Goliath against each other.
The Gargoyles are tricked while attempting to rescue a child in a partially built building. Angela and Bronx are too late to save the rest of the clan as the sun comes up. When the police arrive they capture the still stone Angela and Bronx and put them in jail for all the 'previous crimes' the gargoyles had committed. Meanwhile, the rest of the clan wakes up in Xanatos's care. Xanatos had staged their 'destruction' so the Quarrymen would leave them alone. The clan goes to rescue Angela, who is being transported by train. The Quarrymen attack and the Gargoyles save all the train's passengers, and are immediately accepted by everyone.
