Four robbers storm into a check-cashing outlet. They release tear gas grenades and rob the place. Nash, Joe, Harvey, and Evan respond to the silent alarm. Three robbers (who all turn out to be women) dump the cash into a getaway car (driven by another woman) and leave on foot. Harvey and Evan run into the getaway car, but let it go, not knowing that the robbers are women. Nash and Joe confront the fourth robber. Nash shoots him dead through the eye hole in his gas mask. The dead robber is Adrian Beltran; stolen is 100,000 dollars. The MO (modus operandi) is similar to a North Beach robbery crew from four years ago, who are now all in prison. Nash suspects Anthony Warrick, who ratted out the original crew. But Warrick retains heavy-duty lawyer Denise, and Warrick is clean with no connection to the dead man. While Harvey and Evan surveil Warrick, another robbery goes off. A trace of the tear gas grenades leads to Bunker Bob, but he only identifies the dead Adrian Beltran. A study of the robbery surveillance tape leads Nash to a new conclusion - the robbers are all women and are possibly the wives and girlfriends of the original crew now in prison. Nash and Joe visit one of the ex-wives, Patty Rollins. She reveals nothing, but is frightened enough to go visit the three other members of the gang. Patty is followed there by Warrick, who threatens to reveal the gang to the SIU unless Warrick gets a cut. He is shot dead by Sada, leader of the gang. Warrick's body is found by Harvey and Evan. The murder weapon has Patty's fingerprints on it. Patty initially refuses to talk, but fesses up to Nash. She was only the driver. She reveals the warehouse where Sada and company are located. Harvey and Evan raid the warehouse, but the women come out shooting. One is shot dead by Harvey, the other two get away. Nash and Joe question Sada's boyfriend, convict Weldon Howard. Weldon is about to go to his appeal hearing, and lawyer Denise advises Weldon to shut-up. Harvey discovers a record of phone calls (from the dead woman robber) comes from a phone booth near the court building that Weldon and his crew are to appear for their hearing. Sada is there, and she has bribed a guard to set the prisoners free. They dress in suits and proceed to walk out of the court building. Nash and company intercede, arresting the whole bunch - the original robbery crew and their wives. Nick has convinced a reluctant Nash and weak Cassidy to move into a retirement home. Cassidy discovers Nick's scheme - Nick and his buddy Gordon Jackson are the first two men to enter a formerly all-women retirement home. Nash discovers Nick in bed with one of the women. The home rescinds its co-ed policy, and Nick moves back to Nash's apartment. Joe gets an unauthorized copy of Caitlin's preliminary report on the SIU and Nash's improper ways. Nash is angry with Caitlin. She modifies her report somewhat, but still hands in a devastating report on the SIU. She and Nash agree to a truce, but Nash now keeps a distrustful distance from Caitlin.
Handcuffed Skip Osaka jumps out the back of the moving 'Cuda. Nash and Joe give chase. Skip runs up a fire escape onto a power line. The line breaks, and Skip falls through a window. Nash and Joe place him in the trunk of the 'Cuda, and bring him to the SIU. A surprised Nash, Joe and Harvey discover the SIU barge is being towed away by a tugboat. The Head of the MCD, Reuben Banks, drives up and informs Nash the SIU has been temporarily shut down. The SIU is disbanded by MCD: Nash and Joe are assigned to Park Detail, Harvey to Homicide, Evan to Traffic, and Caitlin to Vice. At the Civic Center Park, Nash and Joe meet Colonel Culpepper, drug addict/transient, and Phil, the phony Vietnam veteran. The Colonel is shot dead in the park. Harvey and his new partner, Inspector Riley Webber, investigate the murder. Evan and Cassidy have set a wedding date. Harvey is best man, and he plans the bachelor party. Nash and Nick are informed, and Nash gives his blessing. Father Nick gives Cassidy her grandmother's wedding gown. Meanwhile, Cassidy's room mate Miranda's brother Troy visits. Troy is a musician, so Cassidy hires Troy to do the music for her wedding. Phil has witnessed the park murder. Nash gets the info - the Colonel owed money to drug dealer Jimmy "Shank" Brasher. Brasher is traced to an apartment via the black BMW seen in the area. Harvey and Riley break into the apartment, but only Brasher's girlfriend and a bunch of pigs, drugs and three handguns. The girl refuses to reveal her identity. Meanwhile, an undercover Caitlin arrests a drug dealer. She informs Nash of a job offer in Boston as a supervisor with the DEA. The girl is identified as Gina Banks, daughter of Head of MCD Reuben Banks. Her gun was used to kill the Colonel. Gina reveals the location of Brasher, and Brasher is arrested. Reuben Banks reacts with anger thinking that Nash is trying to implicate his daughter. At the bachelor party, the stripper turns out to be Harvey's former lover Anna. Anna refuses to acknowledge Harvey, pretending she doesn't know Harvey. While teaching Cassidy to play the guitar, Troy kisses Cassidy. Cassidy calls Evan, but her call is answered by a waitress flirting with Evan. Evan and Cassidy argue, driving her into Troy's arms. Nash declares his love for Caitlin by bringing her flowers. But Caitlin has already accepted the Boston job offer, and she leaves behind Nash's flowers.
Nash and Joe meet Lyle who tells them the secret location the SIU barge has been towed to. Joe returns Lyle's chihuahua Ginger who has been held hostage in return for the info. A truck deliberately rams into a van containing three prisoners. Nash and Joe arrive at the accident scene, with Nash figuring out that a phony paramedic van has taken the three prisoners in a successful escape attempt. Nash, Joe, Harvey and Evan arrive at the empty and disconnected SIU. The Mayor has granted a one week reprieve pending the Police Commission hearing. If Nash and company catch the three escaped prisoners, the SIU will be saved. Head of MCD Reuben Banks daughter Gina's immunity deal is also dependent upon the return of one of the escaped prisoners - Gina's former boyfriend, Jimmy "Shank" Brasher. The other two escapees are Darnell Galloway and Elliot Wong. Gina is kidnapped by Brasher. Jake Cage of Fugitive Recovery is already on the case, beating Nash to interview Mr. Footman, owner of the stolen truck used to ram the van. Cage is ahead of Nash to get Cotton Galloway, brother of Darnell. Nash gets Cage to agree to cooperate to save the SIU. Nick is brought in to hook up power to the disconnected SIU. Cage is also in love with Caitlin. He takes ballroom dancing so he can romance Caitlin. He asks her for another chance at a date, as Nash overhears at Caitlin's apartment. Caitlin is packing up, getting ready to leave for Boston. Evan and Cassidy agree that their wedding is still on, as Troy (room mate Miranda's brother) creates doubt in Cassidy by revealing to her that he has feelings for her. Brasher kidnaps a diamond dealer and steals his diamonds as a terrified Gina looks on. Darnell Galloway is arrested. He reveals the location of Brasher. Nash and Cage go to a martial arts studio, but only Elliot Wong is there. Nash and Cage fight five of Wong's thugs to get Wong and the latest haul of stolen diamonds into custody. But Wong holds his breath until he passes out. Brasher kidnaps another diamond dealer, Mr. Zachary. But Zachary has no diamonds on him - his wife is bringing in the diamonds from Antwerp. Brasher holds Zachary (along with Gina) hostage until his wife returns. At the Zachary's home, Brasher tries to take Mrs. Zachary, but Nash and Cage are already there waiting. Cage is taken hostage, but he head-butts Brasher. Nash is forced to shoot the other thug. The hostages are freed. Reuben Banks drops his recommendation to close down the SIU. Cage leaves to pursue Caitlin to Boston. Joe, Evan, Harvey (and even Ronnie) go to Caitlin's going away party. Evan meets the flirting waitress again. Cage dances with Caitlin. Nash arrives at the very last minute to kiss a drunk and angry Caitlin. She departs for the airport, only to return to seduce Nash at his apartment. Cassidy finds Evan having sex with the waitress. Evan fumbles with his pants and accidentally discharges his gun sitting on the coffee table. (It appears that Evan has shot himself accidentally.)
When a controversial Latina actress is shot and killed, suspicion turns first to her former lover, then to a crazed stalker. Evan comes back to work after surgery, but Cassidy wants nothing to do with him. Caitlin moves in with Nash, and causes strife between her and Nick.
Nash and company foil a failing restaurateur's kidnap plan to ransom his nanny's child. Nick has sex with Bridget, Caitlin's inept maid. Inger returns for a visit, but leaves for Sweden again. Cassidy has a friend attempt suicide because he can't get a date with her.
Nash and company foil a jewelry heist ring posing as firemen. Nash hits a pedestrian and gets sued. But Caitlin has misplaced Nash's auto insurance bill, and he blames Caitlin.
Cassidy finds an apartment, only to be mistaken for the previous renter who has stolen money from drug dealers. Lonely Joe carries on an online romance, but the other "woman" turns out to be Pepe. Evan bottoms out in his broken relationship with Cassidy
Jake Cage and Caitlin go undercover to capture an international fugitive returning home for the wedding of his daughter. Nash and Joe steal a violin for corporate clients, only to have the violin stolen again by one of Joe's detective students. Evan gets involved with a street prostitute.
An embezzler with a twin, along with bumbling Rick Bettina, confound the efforts of Nash and the SIU to recover stolen city funds. Caitlin tosses Nash's baseball out the window after they miss their flight to Jamaica.
A psychologist establishes an insanity defense for her patient while they plan bank robberies. Nick wants to become financially independent by marrying a rich widow. Evan shows up for work drunk, forcing Harvey to confront Evan's substance abuse problem.
Evan puts himself under suspicion after he takes $40,000 of drug money during a bust; Nash and the SIU take down a drug dealer. Nash and Joe guard a chimpanzee, while Jake Cage goes undercover as an animal extremist.
Nash and the SIU discover the Cell Phone Killer's intentions are to kill his doctor. Lonely Joe keeps having erotic dreams about Caitlin. Evan gets fired from his bartender job.

A small time getaway driver sets up two robbery gangs to rob each other, while he walks away with the loot and complete immunity. Evan is brought in for another chance in Joe's off-duty case concerning a kidnapped son who has had a gender change. The 'Cuda hood is graffitied, and Nash puts Boz Bishop on the case.
Lowlife Frankie Dwyer returns, this time importing Vietnamese women as sex slaves, as Caitlin goes undercover as the seller. Nash has a tooth ache and refers to Caitlin by his first wife's name. Joe is aggressively pursued by bodybuilder Spike; Evan bumps into Cassidy in his job as a parking lot attendant.
Nash goes undercover as a hitman for a drug cartel. Nick's poker buddies plan a bank heist; Inger returns from Sweden with her mother; Evan gets his engagement ring back from Cassidy.
A married woman is murdered by her lover and his wife. Evan is beaten up trying to free his girlfriend/hooker from the clutches of a pimp. Joe takes Evan in, but Evan attempts suicide. Boz Bishop asks for a promotion at the detective agency.
Frankie Dwyer returns again, putting out a contract on Nash's life while smuggling heroin inside of tofu containers. Nash and Caitlin's relationship is strained; Inger sets up Nick with her mother Ulla; Evan is born again in a baptism.
Wearing his brother's uniform as a motorcycle cop and impersonating a police officer, a deranged man imagines and talks to his dead brother. Nash adjusts to his break-up with Caitlin; Nick fails his driving test; Cassidy asks Evan for help to move back into a Berkeley apartment.
A gang war erupts - Nash and the SIU puts a drug gangster and his crew out of business. Cassidy comes on to Evan as their lovemaking is shown on a live camera web site. Joe and Nick get involved in a tax scam with Nick's racehorse - Mr. Woody, as the horse is once again fit to race.
Nash goes undercover to stop a high-end heist artist. Joe helps a restaurant critic who receives death threats; Evan is back in the SIU; Caitlin takes an administrative job within the department; and Harvey helps out a troubled 12 year old boy.
A gang of female prisoners escape in search of five million dollars in bearer bonds, while Nash helps the woman framed for the theft of the bonds. Joe has trouble with a delivery boy, while Cassidy considers a career with the CIA.
A nurse who assists a plastic surgeon for the mob is murdered because she stole the before and after photos of altered mobsters. She passes a key to the hidden files to Joe, and Joe becomes a target of mobster Louis Fallon. Nick appears with Cassidy in her play, but suffers a bout of Alzheimer's. Harvey meets a new girl, but she is a former lesbian.
Nash and Joe get a tip from Tony B that there is a hit out on Chief of Police Frank Girard. But it's already too late, as the Chief's car is shot up - the Chief and his driver are killed. Nash and Joe arrive to find the carnage. The Chief was a close friend of Nash's. There was one driver, one triggerman, using a bright red Impala. The Impala crashed into a taxi, leaving behind a paint sample. Thanks to Caitlin's suggestion, the SIU and the Embarcadero station are sharing office space in the barge. There is total chaos, as Joe is forced to share a desk with Jake Cage. Tony B is interrogated. Tony B has a new business - Bay Area Switches. The trucking business is really a front to ship money to Las Vegas to be laundered. Tony B's contact is Ellen Holiday. Holiday is in contact with the assassin of the Chief and with Jimmy Z, head of the money-laundering operation. Holiday is arrested and questioned, but she reveals nothing. The red Impala is found, tracked to a Melvin from a wrecking yard. Holiday reveals she is a DEA agent, and her supervisor is Agent Marzaroti. Melvin's cousin, driver of the get-away car, works at Merritt Auto Body. A raid on the warehouse reveals 31 money counters, Tony B's truck, and half a billion dollars in cash. Nash orders Jake Cage to guard the cash. Holiday shows up, because she needs the money to continue her undercover case. She reveals the killer of the Chief is Roy McNeer, and that Jimmy Z ordered Chief Girard killed. McNeer and Jimmy Z suspect that Holiday has stolen the half a billion dollars. Holiday meets with McNeer - she blames Tony B for losing the cash. But Nash and Joe show up and arrest McNeer. Meanwhile, Nash has given Nick a cell phone. Nash is concerned about Nick's Alzheimer's affliction. But Nick has turned off the phone and refuses to be monitored. Nash rescues Angel from a rooftop. Angel's wings have been stolen. Nash finds the wings on a wino, and returns the wings to Angel. Nash gets Tony B to set-up Jimmy Z. Tony B is to tell Jimmy Z that he wants to give back the money. McNeer wants to deal - he meets with Agent Marzaroti. But's it's a trick - McNeer kills Marzaroti and two other agents and escapes. Meanwhile, Holiday meets with Jimmy Z and reveals that she is a DEA agent. She agrees to return the half a billion in cash to Jimmy Z in return for a pay-off of twenty million dollars. Holiday also agrees to keep Jimmy Z informed of the investigation on him. At the warehouse, Jake Cage informs Nash that the half billion in cash is gone, taken away by the DEA. Nash suspects Holiday. Nash and Joe go to Las Vegas, to follow Holiday and McNeer there.
Nash and Joe arrive in Las Vegas, and locate assassin Roy McNeer's hotel room. His food is still warm, as Nash and Joe spot McNeer in a casino. Nash and Joe give chase, but are held up by the hotel security guards, as McNeer escapes. Nash and Joe check into the hotel - Pepe is the concierge. They locate McNeer's girl, Vivienne Reed, and she agrees to tell Joe if McNeer calls her. The truck full of half a billion in laundered cash is hijacked. The two thugs contact Tony B to ransom the truck for $50,000. Tony B and the SIU meet them and get the truck back. Harvey, Evan, Officer Ronnie and Tony B go to Las Vegas with the truck full of money. Jake Cage shows up in Las Vegas too, with orders from Caitlin and the Mayor's Office to bring back Nash. But Jake agrees to help Nash instead after an altercation. Nash meets with Ellen Holiday. She fills Nash in on the rest of the DEA investigation. Jimmy Z works for a drug king pin coming in from Shanghai - they have ordered the hit on Police Chief Frank Gerard. Ellen introduces Nash to Jimmy Z. Nash is undercover as Teddy Malone, pilot or "Transport Specialist" who will fly Jimmy Z's cash out to Mexico; Joe is the co-pilot. Nash and Ellen spend the night together. Nash/Teddy Malone stalls as he inspects the cargo plane, saying it needs to be repaired. Jimmy Z complains of a problem with Nash Bridges. So Nash arranges for Tony B to play Nash. The real Nash (Teddy Malone) beats up Tony B (the fake Nash) in front of Jimmy Z, saying he will kill Nash. Meanwhile, Cassidy comes to Las Vegas also, with plans to elope with Evan. Vivienne calls Joe, telling him McNeer will show up for a party at the Desert Inn. Evan and Harvey are there undercover to intercept McNeer. But McNeer shots Evan, fatally wounding Evan as McNeer escapes. The money is loaded onto the cargo plane. The DEA agents prepare, but McNeer and his two thugs kill an agent and dress as DEA agents. Jimmy Z and the king pin from Shanghai are arrested, but McNeer takes Ellen hostage as they flee in the cargo plane. Ellen escapes from the plane, and Nash shoots the plane down with a Stinger missile. Nash sees Cassidy to inform her of Evan's death. Back at the SIU, a grieving Harvey cleans out Evan's desk. After the funeral, Cassidy informs Nash that she is attending the Police Academy.
An old nemisis of Nash's breaks out of prison. Joe finds a new house through Ulla, makes an incredible deal on it, but it turns out to be a disaster. Harvey's new partner, Antwon Babcock, joins the SIU.
Nash clashes with his new rival, Deputy Chief Max Pettit, who has assigned Cassidy to a dangerous undercover gig involving synthetic diamond smugglers and a deadly assassin working for the South African diamond cartel. Joe tries to back out of the house purchase; Cassidy and her new partner Rachel McCabe join the S.I.U.

Finally getting the papers to send Betty Ann on her way, Joe presents them to Nash for his signiture, but before he can sign it and get her outta there, she uncovers that she's found some.....curious irregularites in the SIU files, and it seems that the SIU has a mole. and also Boz (Christian J. Meoli) and Antwon do some P.I. leg work for Nash and Joe to find who stole a demo tape from Dickie Lerner (Rickey Medlocke), a record producer, and it is Rachel's birthday. The last episode i remember seeing out in the west coast.
