When Sesshomaru goes in for the break, Inuyasha uses his head to block the attack. Sesshomaru releases poison from his hand in Inuyasha's face, temporarily blinding him. Blinded, Inuyasha sees the Wound of the Wind. Inuyasha slashes into the Wound of the Wind, hitting Sesshomaru. Before he has the chance to die, Tenseiga takes Sesshomaru to safety. Later, Totosai repairs Tetsusaiga and informs the others that Tenseiga most likely prevented Sesshomaru from dying. Elsewhere, an injured Sesshomaru is approached by a little girl (Rin), whom he scares off with a demonic growl. That night, Rin gives Sesshomaru water and food. Rin goes to get a fish from the river in her village but is caught by the villagers. The next day, Rin goes to Sesshomaru who notices her wounded eye and asks her what happened, Rin just smiles. Meanwhile, Kagome senses a Shikon shard. Elsewhere, Rin returns to her hut and sees a demon in it, he didn't anyone lived in that hut. He senses that they' are coming and starts to run. Soon enough a pack of wolves attacks some villagers and chase the demon into a river. A human-looking wolf demon (Kouga) approaches the demon. The frightened demon hands over a Shikon shard and is then killed by Kouga. As Kouga departs he tells the wolves to kill whomever they wish. The wolves start massacring the villagers, right in front of little Rin's eyes. Later, Rin is being chased by the wolves in the woods. Rin hopes to get to Sesshomaru before the wolves get her, but she trips and the wolves close it. Jaken, aboard a two headed dragon, looks for Sesshomaru. He eventually finds him (actually Sesshomaru finds him). Sesshomaru smells blood and wolves and walks off to find out why. Sesshomaru comes across Rin's body. Sesshomaru uses Tenseiga to revive Rin and then walks off, with Jaken and Rin following behind him. Inuyasha arrive at the village where Kagome no longer senses a Shikon shard. Inuyasha fights off some wolves while the remaining wolves just howl. Suddenly, a large tornado appears, from the tornado emerges Kouga. Kouga is revealed to have three Shikon shards, one in his right arm and one in each leg.
Kouga attacks Inuyasha because he killed some of his wolves. During the battle, Kagome warns Inuyasha of the three shards Kouga has (see episode 35). Kouga is surprised that Kagome knew that. Kouga and Inuyasha continue to battle. When Inuyasha prepares to use the Wind's Scar (see episode 28, 34 and 35), Kouga senses the power and runs off. The others tell Inuyasha that he probably ran off because he sensed the power of the Tetsusaiga. That night while digging graves, Miroku tells Inuyasha he disapproves of the fact that Inuyasha plans to become a full demon with the Shikon no Tama (see episode 1). The next day after a clever distraction, Kouga kidnaps Kagome who happened to have Shippo on her shoulder. After running quite a ways, Kouga and Kagome run into some bird-like demons. Kouga asks Kagome he she senses and Shikon shards in the demons, she doesn't and Kouga runs off. Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku follow a trail of crying mushrooms left behind by Shippo. Kouga arrives at his cave with Kagome. Kouga warns the others not to touch Kagome. He then throws Shippo to the wolves. Kagome tells him if anything happens to Shippo that she won't help. Kouga saves Shippo from being eaten. Some injured wolf demons are brought into the cave. Kouga explains to Kagome that as of late the Birds of Paradise' have been becoming very aggressive and attack wolves and wolf demons. Kouga assumes that a Shikon shard is the reason for their hostility. Shippo is shocked to see that the wolves have found his mushrooms. Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku are surprised that the trail of mushrooms has vanished. Suddenly they are attacked by the Birds of Paradise.
Shippo disguises himself as Kouga so he and Kagome can escape. His disguise is quickly seen through. With the other wolf demons on to him he and Kagome make a break for it. The two make it to a cliff where they're cornered by the wolf demons. Kagome throws Shippo off the cliff (because he can become a balloon) and tells him to get Inuyasha. The wolf demons are about to attack Kagome when Kouga appears and tells them to stop. Kouga hugs Kagome and declares her as his woman. Kagome slaps him and tells him that it's rude to claim someone. She explains that there is someone else that she likes, Inuyasha. Kouga tells her that he'll kill Inuyasha so she can forget about him. Elsewhere, Inuyasha and the others fight off the Birds of Paradise'. The three assume the birds are allied with the wolf demons, so Inuyasha gets captured by one so they can lead him to Kagome. Miroku and Sango follow on Kirara and they soon run into Shippo. Shippo explains the whole situation. Inuyasha breaks free from his captor and the four go off to save Kagome. Kouga, Kagome and the other wolf demons prepare to lead an attack on the Birds of Paradise'. As a hordes of Birds of Paradise' come out, Kagome leads Kouga to the Shikon shard that she senses. It turns out the shard is in the mouth of the head Bird of Paradise'. The leader attacks Kagome and Kouga but they manage to dodge. Kouga picks up a weapon and prepares to attack the leader he orders Ginta and Hakaku to take Kagome to safety. Before they can, Ginta is taken by a Bird of Paradise', using a nearby bow and arrow Kagome saves Ginta. Then a group of the birds move into kill Kagome, Ginta and Hakaku. Inuyasha appears and saves the trio. Kouga tells Inuyasha that he showed up at a bad time because he needs focus on killing the head bird. But he tells Inuyasha that he'll kill him soon enough because he's fell in love with Kagome and plans to kill him so Kagome can fall in love with him. Kouga then proceeds to attack the leader. Kagome tells Kouga that it's hiding above him. The leader the swoops down from the sky and attacks Kouga. Kouga jams his weapon in the birds mouth but the leader clamps down on his right arm. Kouga soon breaks free but the bird was able to get the shard in his arm. Inuyasha then kills the leader with the Wind's Scar (see episode 34). The wolf demon the retreat. Inuyasha wants to fight with Kouga but Kagome won't let him. Kagome explains to Inuyasha that the wolf demons actually aren't that bad. Inuyasha then storms off. Kagome retrieves the two Shikon shards from the remains of the head bird. Sango tells Kagome that Inuyasha was really worried about her so she should try and cheer him up. Kagome goes over to Inuyasha and explains to him that she has no feelings for Kouga. Inuyasha then asks what *really* happened between the two of them. Kagome is angered by Inuyasha's mistrust and decides to go home.
Kagome is still upset from fight with Inuyasha during dinner with her family. The next day, Kagome goes to school and her friends show he that while Kagome was out with Economy Class Syndrome' a freshmen girl has been friendly with Hojo. When her friends see that she isn't jealous they assume that she likes someone else. Back in the 1500's, Sango and Shippo wait for Kagome by the well, Inuyasha hangs around Kaede complaining about the situation with Kagome (see episode 37) and Miroku reads the palms of the village girls. Later, Miroku tells Sango and Shippo that they should stay away from the well because if Inuyasha sees them waiting around he'll probably never go and get Kagome. Back in the present, Kagome tells her friends about the boy she likes. She explains that he's jealous, violent, still likes his ex and once told one of her guy friends that he'd kill him and despite that he has a good side. Her friends think that Kagome should break up with him. In the past, Inuyasha jumps into the well thinking no ones around but unbeknownst to him Sango, Miroku and Shippo are spying on him. In the present, he sneaks into Kagome's room. Souta sees him and asks him what happened with Kagome because she has been mad ever since she returned. Kagome returns home and Inuyasha decides to split and he tells Souta not to tell her that he was there. The next day, Kagome's friends set her up on a date with Hojo for Saturday, the day she was planning to return to the past. With Inuyasha's permission, Shippo uses crayon drawings of a dog, a cat and a wolf to get Kaede's opinion on the current Inuyasha-Kagome situation (see episode 37). Kaede suggests that dog should apologize to the cat because the cat is most likely waiting for the dog's apology. Inuyasha then returns to the present, once again. Kagome decides to take a break from her studying, so she sets her alarm and takes a nap. Inuyasha enters through her window and sees that she's sleeping. Suddenly, Kagome's alarm clock goes off. Inuyasha panics and ends up breaking it while trying to stop it. Before Kagome wakes up, Inuyasha is long gone. Kagome knows he was there, however, because he left his footprints on her rug. The next day, Kagome cancels her plans with Hojo but not before she makes it sounds like she was jealous of the freshmen girl. Kagome then returns to the past where Inuyasha apologizes to Kagome for breaking her clock. Kagome is surprised that that's all but Inuyasha asks what else should he be sorry for. Kagome starts to get mad but before she can yell at him, Sango, Miroku and Shippo jump out of the bushes and tell her to be quiet. Inuyasha learns that they've been spying on him all this time and chases them around.
Kagome sees Shippo's drawings of the dog, cat and wolf and learns that not only did he show Kaede he showed the entire village. Elsewhere, some wolf demons from the northern pack try and convince to got with them to storm a castle were a there's a man with a ton of Shikon shards. Kouga refuses to go. However, some demons in his pack want to go so they go with the demons from the north. Inuyasha on the others are in search of a large bear demon who has a Shikon shard. The bear demon soon appears, but before Inuyasha can finish it off, Naraku's bee's take the jewel and pick the bear's body clean. Miroku suspects it's a trap. So does Inuyasha, but he doesn't care as long as he finds Naraku. The group then follows the bees, presumably to Naraku's castle. At Naraku's castle, a woman walks around and prepares for a trap set up by her master that involves a Shikon shard. The group of wolf demons arrive at the castle and are shocked to see no guards. The soon see the woman, they move to attack but a quickly wiped out when she sends razor sharp energy from her fan, killing them all. Later that night one of the wolf demons from the attacking party, returns to Kouga with a horrible wound. The demon tells Kouga to get there before every dies and he hands him the Shikon Shard he found at the Castle. Kouga takes the shard, puts it in his wound (see episode 37), and takes of to the castle. After Kouga leaves, the other demons prepare to tend to the wounded demon's wound but the demon's wound begins to foam and the demon's upper half falls off. Inuyasha and the others and are shocked to see the mass amounts of corpses. The woman waves her fan slightly and the corpses revive. The corpses attack Inuyasha and company, they see that no matter how they attack the corpses just don't die. The woman senses that Kouga is approaching, so she has the corpses fall apart around Inuyasha. Kouga arrives at the castle and sees that Inuyasha is standing amongst the center of the demons, covered in their blood! Kouga blames Inuyasha ant attacks him. Miroku, Sango and Kagome realize that this is all a trap set up by Naraku to get Kouga to kill Inuyasha. While Inuyasha is distracted (he's looking for Naraku) Kouga punches Inuyasha. Inuyasha dodges and Kouga's fist hits the ground which sends a mass of energy from his fist. Inuyasha realizes that Kouga must've found another Shikon shard. Kagome senses that shard in Kouga's arm isn't a shard at all but something different. Sango and Miroku enter the castle to look for Naraku. The see the woman in there, she introduces herself at Kagura. Kagura takes off and leaves the rest to a puppet Naraku left behind.
Sango and Miroku fight the Naraku puppet (see episode 39) and Inuyasha and Kouga continue their fight (see episode 39). Kouga, with help from a Shikon shard (see episode 39), beats Inuyasha. After Kouga thinks he's killed Inuyasha, Kagura approaches him and brings the corpses of the dead wolf demons (see episode 39) back to life, Kouga then realizes that she was the one who killed his comrades. Kouga prepares to attack Kagura but finds he can't move! Kagura explains that the Shikon shard in his right arm is a fake is made from crystallized miasma. Taking advantage of Kouga's situation, Kagura attacks Kouga, cutting him in several places. She then prepares to take the shards in his legs. Suddenly, Kagome fires an arrow at Kagura. Kagura uses the corpses as a shield and blocks the arrow. Kagura attacks Kagome, who is saved by Kirara. Kagura prepares to attack Kagome but Inuyasha steps up and tells her that he is her opponent. Inuyasha is disgusted that Kagura smells just like Naraku! Inuyasha whips out Tetsusaiga and jumps at Kagura. He slashes at her but using her wind tricks she manages to block Tetsusaiga. Kagura explains that she's a wind user and she controls all the winds in the castle. Kagura attacks with her "Dance of the Dragon Blades" technique. Inuyasha prepares to perform the Wind's Scar (see episode 34) but soon realize he can't since Kagura is controlling all the winds in the castle. When Kagome fires an arrow, which misses Kagura, it starts to purify the winds. Inuyasha sees that Kagome's arrows will help him perform the Wind's Scar. Upon Inuyasha's request, Kagome fires an arrow at him. Inuyasha is now able to see the Wound of the Wind and attacks Kagura. The attacks manages to rip off some of Kagura's kimono. But before it can do anymore damage Kagura flies away. As she's leaving Inuyasha notices a spider shaped scar on her back! Meanwhile, Sango and Miroku finish off Naraku's puppet. Later with help from one of Kagome's arrows, Kouga is freed from the poison of the fake Shikon shard. Kagura returns to Naraku. She is angered that he didn't tell her about Tetsusaiga's special power. She realize that he was using her to test Inuyasha, so in a way he tricked her. She attacks Naraku, but any further attempts at his life are thwarted when Naraku reminds Kagura that she was revived through him and that since he has her heart (literally) he can kill her whenever he wants.
As Kagome puts bandages on Inuyasha's wound (see episode 40), the group discusses Kagura's relation to Naraku (see episode 40). Naraku tells Kagura to depart for her sister already has. Meanwhile, a girl in white holding a mirror walks through the forest, surrounded by Saimiyosho. The next day, men are looking for a girl named Koharu who refused their masters advances. They find Sango, they decide to take her with them. Inuyasha soon appears and chases the men away. Koharu (who was hiding behind some weeds) comes out and thanks them. When the girl sees Miroku, she is overjoyed. Three years earlier, when Koharu was 11, Miroku came to her village. She worked hard for an oil merchant and rarely got any food. However, Miroku gave her some food and asked her to bear his child. Miroku then had to leave the village. Koharu further explains that recently the oil merchants son had taken a liking to her, but she refused his advances and ran away. Koharu tells Miroku that she is now ready to bear his child and that the hope that he would someday return is what has kept her going. Koharu wants to come with Miroku on his travels, but she can't because she'd be in too much danger. Miroku convinces the chief of a nearby village to let Koharu stay with them. As Miroku says his goodbye to Koharu, Inuyasha notes how tense Sango has been ever since Koharu has shown up (which Sango denies). After much ado, Miroku agrees to stay with Koharu for the night. That night, after Koharu tends to Miroku's bath she goes off to prepare dinner. On her way she runs into Kanna(the girl with the mirror). Later that night, while Inuyasha and the others are enjoying Koharu's dinner, they soon realize that they are surrounded by something other than demons. Inuyasha, Miroku and Kirara go out to investigate and end up fighting of hordes of villagers. Inside the house, Koharu tells Kagome, Sango and Shippo that the chief and his wife were attacked by a demon. The three go and investigate; Sango sees Kanna and throws Hiraikotsu at her. Due to a barrier that Kanna erected (via her mirror), Hiraikotsu is then thrown back at Sango knocking out (Shippo is also knocked out because Sango falls on him). Kanna then begins to steals Kagome's soul, as Koharu restrains Kagome. Outside, Inuyasha and Miroku continue to fight the villagers, being sure not to kill them. They soon discover that Kagura is controlling them. Kagura explains people without souls can be controlled just as easily as corpses (see episodes 39 and 40). She further explains that Kagome's soul should be absorbed by now. Inuyasha fends off Kagura's Wind Blades while Miroku checks on Kagome. In the castle, Miroku finds an unconscious Koharu. Koharu soon comes too and hugs Miroku, unknown to Miroku, Koharu is ready to stab him in the back!
Kanna (see episode 41) is forced to stop absorbing Kagome's soul because it's overflowing in the mirror. Kanna assumes that Kagome will be unable to move so she moves into take Kagome's Shikon shards. However, Kagome gets up and prepares to fire an arrow. Miroku manages to knock Koharu (see episode 41) out before she can stab him (see episode 41). As Miroku arrives on the scene, Kanna departs. Meanwhile, Inuyasha continues to dodge the Wind Blades from Kagura's fan (see episode 41). Kagura notices that he's still injured from his last battle (see episodes 39 and 40). Kagura performs her "Dance of the Dragon Blades" technique. Inuyasha sees the Wound of the Wind and strikes it. Kanna appears and Inuyasha's attack is reflected back at him. Miroku, Shippo and Kirara (with Kagome, Sango and Koharu on her back) arrive at the battleground. Naraku then appears with Kagura and Kanna. Miroku is about to suck the trio into his Air Void, but realizes that is he does the souls of Kagome, Koharu and the villagers will be lost forever. Naraku explains that his new abilities have allowed to create Kagura, a wind user, and Kanna, nihility (someone without an aura or scent). Meanwhile, a weak Kagome has Kirara bring her to Inuyasha. Naraku tells Miroku that he's not the only one uses indirect approaches against Inuyasha. He shows his Shikon shard and tells him that Kikyo gave this to him so he could kill Inuyasha, for she hates him as well. Kagome arrives and shoots an arrow at Kanna. But instead of being reflected back as Kagome the arrow is absorbed, much to the surprise of Naraku and Kagura. Kanna explains that the arrow is made up of souls. Kanna also states that her mirror is full, and will break if the souls aren't released. Kanna releases the souls and Miroku releases his Air Void. Kagura sends boulders into it and the trio escapes. That morning, the villagers wake up confused and Koharu holds on to a scroll Miroku gave her. Elsewhere, the gang has found an abandoned hut to stay in. Miroku sits on a tree in deep thought and Sango remains unconscious. After tending to Inuyasha's wounds Kagome, goes out to look for some more. Inside the hut, Inuyasha thinks about his Kikyo'.
Kikyo, who is tending to wounded soldiers senses something and investigates it. She finds that it's Naraku who thanks her for the power she gave him. Inuyasha, who is still injured (see episode 42), thinks about Kikyo and what she did (see episodes 33 and 42). Kikyo's Soul Snatchers appear and Inuyasha weakly follows them,. He meets Kikyo, from her he discovers that Kikyo gave Naraku the Shikon shard so he could be destroyed. Kagura, who's eavesdropping upon Naraku's request, gets bored and decides to kill Inuyasha and Kikyo. Before Kagura can do anything, Kikyo fires a warning shot and tells Kagura that the next shot will hit her head. Kagura departs on her feather. Before Kikyo departs, she tells Inuyasha that Naraku is their enemy and she won't let anyone kill him before she has the chance to. Meanwhile, Naraku's new detachment, Goshinki, attacks a nearby village. As Inuyasha gradually makes his way back the hut, Kagome, Miroku and Shippo run to his aid. Inuyasha explains that Kikyo didn't give the shard Naraku to spite him, but before he can finish Kagome walks away hurt that Inuyasha still wants to protect Kikyo despite all she's done. Kagura watches Goshinki's destruction of the village and soon discovers that he can read minds. Inuyasha and the others are lured to the village by a corpse controlled by Kagura. Inuyasha battles Goshinki and soon learns of his telepathic powers. Inuyasha prepares to cut the wound of the wind, but Goshinki manages to make the wound' vanish. Inuyasha goes to strike Goshinki with Tetsusaiga. Goshinki catches the blade in his mouth and breaks Tetsusaiga! Goshinki knocks Inuyasha down, thus knocking him out, and then prepares to eat the others. But before he can, Inuyasha suddenly jumps up and cuts off his arm. Kagome notices that Inuyasha's face has changed. Inuyasha quickly disposes of Goshinki. He then feels the urge to kill and continue killing. Miroku and Sango notice how Inuyasha's aura now feels like that of a full blooded demon. Kagome approaches Inuyasha, who tells her to stay away. Kagome tells Inuyasha to "sit", which reverts him back to his half demon self.
Under the light of the moon, Sesshomaru (along with Jaken and Rin) retrieves the head of Goshinki (see episode 43). Sesshomaru was able to detect the change in Inuyasha's blood from half-demon to demon (see episode 43). The next day while Inuyasha and the others are enjoying some fish, Totousai's cow which Myoga is riding appears. Myoga also knows about the transformation that Inuyasha recently went through and he also came with Totosai's cow so Inuyasha can go and see Totosai (see episode 34) about getting his sword repaired. Inuyasha departs on the cow to get Tetsusaiga repaired. That night, Myoga tells Kagome and the others that Tetsusaiga breaking is the reason Inuyasha became fully demon. Since Tetsusaiga seals his demon blood, and with Tetsusaiga broken the seal on his blood was removed. Totosai takes one of Inuyasha's fangs to repair Tetsusaiga and tells Inuyasha that he'll have it repaired in 3 days. Elsewhere, Sesshomaru approaches the hut of Kaijinbou. Kaijinbou is an old student of Totosai, who was expelled for making evil swords. Sesshomaru asks Kaijinbou to make him a sword from the fangs of the ogre that was able to break the Tetsusaiga. Three days later, Jaken goes to pick up Sesshomaru's new sword, Toukijin, but Kaijinbou, who has been possessed by the soul of Goshinki, cuts Jaken in half. Later on, Sesshomaru arrives and revives Jaken with Tenseiga (see episode 34) and they go off to find Kaijinbou. Elsewhere, a human Inuyasha (it's the night of the new moon) waits for Totosai to deliver the repaired Tetsusaiga. Kaijinbou appears with his possessed sword and challenges Inuyasha. Due to him being in human form, Inuyasha can't fight, so Sango and Miroku attack Kaijinbou. Sango throws Hiraikotsu at him but he cuts it in half with Toukijin. Miroku charges at Kaijinbou and with the help of one of his spell scrolls and his staff he manages to crush Kaijinbou's skull. But thanks to Toukijin, that doesn't slow him down. As if on cue, Totosai appears with the repaired Tetsusaiga. Despite being in his human form, Inuyasha unsheathes Tetsusaiga and attacks Kaijinbou. Despite it not being transformed, Inuyasha can tell that it's gotten stronger. The sun rises and Inuyasha returns to his half-demon form and Tetsusaiga transforms. However, he soon discovers that Tetsusaiga has gotten much heavier. Totosai that it's because he used one of Inuyasha's fangs to re-combine the sword. Kaijinbou moves in for the kill, while Inuyasha is stuck with a sword that he can barely lift.
Despite Tetsusaiga's newfound weight (see episode 44), Inuyasha manages to kill Kajinbou. However, Toukijin remains unscathed and with it's evil aura intact. The evil aura prevents anyone from being able to lift it from the ground. The group wonders who could have wanted a sword such as Toukijin made in the first place. Inuyasha wants to stick around and find out, while the others don't. Elsewhere, Sesshomaru and Jaken return to Rin after their trip from Kaijinbou's (see episode 44). Sesshomaru detects the presence of Kagura. Jaken notes that she has the same smell as the man who gave Sesshomaru an arm (see episode 18). Kagura explains that she is a detachment of Naraku's and that Toukijin is nearby. The next day, Myouga tells the others that they shouldn't Inuyasha know about Tetsusaiga and its seal on his blood (see episodes 43 and 44). As he says that, Totosai explains to Inuyasha why his Tetsusaiga is so heavy. It's because before Inuyasha was being protected solely by his father (since it was just his fang) and now he's protecting himself (since it now has one of his fangs in it) and when Tetsusaiga becomes light again Inuyasha will have truly become strong. Suddenly, Sesshomaru appears and picks up Toukijin from the ground. Much to Totosai's shock, Sesshomaru defeats the evil aura on the sword. Sesshomaru attacks Inuyasha, so he can get a better understanding of how/why Inuyasha's scent changed. Inuyasha unsheathes Tetsusaiga and attacks Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru manages to knock Tetsusaiga away from Inuyasha. Inuyasha decides no to pick it up again and to attack Sesshomaru without it. Sesshomaru easily knocks Inuyasha back with energy from Toukijin. As Sesshomaru charges towards Inuyasha, he sees that Inuyasha has transformed into a full-blooded demon again! Totosai sprays fire between Inuyasha and Sesshomaru so the other can rescue Inuyasha.. With the help of some sit', Kagome and the others run off with Inuyasha. Later, Sesshomaru thinks about Inuyasha's transformation and realizes that Inuyasha must have been pretty powerful for him to scare Sesshomaru. Meanwhile, Kagura notes Sesshomaru's strength and hopes that she can use his strength to kill Naraku so she can be free.
One day, as Inuyasha and the others are walking Kouga suddenly appears. He tells Kagome that he smelled her so he decided to stop by. Later on, Kouga asks for the location of Naraku's castle. Inuyasha tells them that they don't know. Kouga along with Ginta, Hakkaku and some wolves, take off. That night, Kouga smells Kagura's scent. It turns out to be Naraku along with his new detachment, Juromaru who Naraku has bound in chains. Juromaru and Kouga fight for awhile, and Juromaru is clearly stronger than Kouga. Inuyasha and the others arrive and Kouga departs. Naraku appears and releases Juromaru from the chains and sets him loose on the others, Juromaru slices Naraku in half but it turns out that it's just a puppet. Juromaru attacks Inuyasha. Inuyasha uses his Sankontessou (Iron Reaper Soul Stealer) and is unsuccessful in harming Juromaru. Inuyasha whips out Tetsusaiga, which is still heavy (see episode 45), and slices at Juromaru. When something white comes flying from Juromaru, Kagome assumes that it's Juromaru's arm. Suddenly, the same white object that came from Juromaru flies out of the ground and through Inuyasha. The object lands next to Juromaru and reveals that it's Kageromaru (who was released from the insides of Juromaru when Naraku freed Juromaru from his chains). Elsewhere, Kouga returns to Ginta and Hakkaku claiming that Inuyasha has to be dead by now. Kouga soon leaves to fight along Inuyasha when, thanks to Ginta and Hakkaku, he realizes that when Inuyasha is in danger Kagome is in danger as well. Back with the battle, Inuyasha continues to battle Juromaru, while Kageromaru proves that he's more than a match for Hiraikotsu or the Air Void (Wind Tunnel). Just as Kageromaru is about to attack Kagome, Kouga appears and kicks him away. At first Kageromaru proves to be faster than Kouga, but soon Kouga speeds up and knocks Kageromaru down. Kageromaru goes for Kagome again, but this time Juromaru manages to keep Kouga back. Seeing that Kagome is in danger, Inuyasha charges for Kageromaru and easily cuts off one of his sickle hands. Miroku notices that since his only though was to protect Kagome, Tetsusaiga was lighter during that moment. Kageromaru then hides underground. Sango tips the end of Miroku's staff with poison and throws into the ground, the poison spreads quickly through the ground and Kageromaru comes flying out. Kouga charges at Juromaru, ready for the kill. Inuyasha notices that Kageromaru has disappeared again. He figures out that he has returned inside of Juromaru. So Inuyasha tells Kouga to get out of the way, and he charges at Juromaru. Just as Kouga is about to strike Juromaru, Kageromaru appears again and prepares to slice Kouga. Inuyasha then swings at Kouga, Kageromaru and Juromaru with Tetsusaiga. Kouga manages to get out of the way in time but Kageromaru and Juromaru both are killed by the blow. After the battle, Inuyasha is prepared to fight Kouga. Kagome tells him not to because he's injured. Inuyasha doesn't care and wants to fight, Kagome tells him to sit' and asks Kouga to leave. Inuyasha gets back up and tells Kagome that he's sick of seeing her flirt with Kouga. Kagome, is angered by this comment and decides that she is going home, again.
As Kagome returns home, she tells a concerned Shippo that she's going to get medical supplies and not to tell Inuyasha because she wants to make him worry. Elsewhere, Kikyo is once again pulled away from tending wounded soldiers due to sensing Naraku's presence (see episode 43). Kikyo tells Naraku that she knows why he hasn't killed her yet, because Onigumo's heart (see episodes 20 and 21), that still remains in him (see episode 33), won't let him. Kagome returns home and takes a bath. Back in the past, Miroku fills Kaede in on Naraku and his latest detachments (see episode 46). When the subject of Kouga's one-sided love is brought up Inuyasha walks away because Sango made him sound like the bad guy. Elsewhere, an angry Naraku sends a huge Soul-Stealer after Kikyo. In battle with the creature, Kikyo loses her souls and runs away. Later that night, Inuyasha runs into Kikyo, who is still on the run from the demon. With help from Tetsusaiga, Inuyasha easily defeats the demon. As Kikyo's souls return, Kikyo explains to Inuyasha that Naraku can't kill her because Onigumo's heart still loves her. Inuyasha is angered that Naraku loves her and vows to protect her from him. Kagome returns from the past and sees the light from Kikyo's souls and goes to investigate.. Inuyasha tells Kikyo that he'll kill Naraku for her. Kagome arrives on the scene, just as Inuyasha hugs Kikyo. As Kikyo holds a knife to his throat, Kikyo tells Inuyasha that she will kill Naraku herself. AS Kikyo departs, Inuyasha is alerted to Kagome's presence. Kagome is taken a back by the events that just occurred and Inuyasha just stands there speechless.
Before Inuyasha can even speak, Kagome runs away. The next day, Kagome leaves for home once again. Later that day, Miroku and Sango see Inuyasha who shamelessly tells them that he was with Kikyo (see episode 47). Though separated, Kagome and Inuyasha both come to the same conclusion, they can't see each other anymore. In front of her friends, Kagome pretends to be over Inuyasha but they can clearly see that she isn't. After school, Kagome as Kagome prepares to go down the well and return their two Shikon shards, Kagome wishes that Kikyo would just die. Disgusted by what she just said, Kagome runs off thinking that Inuyasha wouldn't want to see her as ugly as she is right now. Kagome stands under the shade of the Sacred Oak, and realizes that she is in love with Inuyasha. Kagome runs to her mother, who tells her how the Sacred Oak's purifying aura helped her make the decision to marry Kagome's father. In the past, Miroku, Sango and Shippo help Inuyasha realize his true feelings for Kagome. As he runs to the well, he sees that Kagome is already there. Kagome tells Inuyasha that she came to the conclusion that, despite being her reincarnation, she and Kikyo have something in common: They both want to see Inuyasha, again. Kagome then asks Inuyasha if she can stay with him, he asks if she wants to, which she does. Kagome and Inuyasha walk off, hand in hand.
As Inuyasha and the others search the ruins of one of Naraku's old castles (see episode 30), Sango finds the graves of her fellow exterminators (see episode 24). Miroku moves them away from Naraku's castle and gives them a burial in non-defiled soil. As Sango prays at the grave, she vows that someday she and Kohaku will guard their tombs. Meanwhile, an amnesiac Kohaku skillfully chops up wood for an elderly couple. The elderly found him in the woods shortly after Lord Hitomi Kagewaki's (see episode 25) castle mysteriously disappeared. That night, Kohaku leaves the elderly couple after he is attack by Naraku's bees. He runs into the woods and is attacked by a huge demon. But he saved by Sango (they came running when Kagome sensed a jewel shard). Sango is overjoyed to be reunited with her. Later that night, Sango and Kohaku bond and Kohaku learns a little about himself. Kohaku falls asleep and Sango slips away. Inuyasha confronts Sango and tells that this has to be one of Naraku's traps. Overhearing this, Kohaku runs away to save Sango the trouble he'll undoubtedly cause. Suddenly, Inuyasha and the others are attacked by Kagura and a swarm of demons. Sango and Kagome soon discover that Kohaku is missing and chase after him, while Inuyasha deal with Kagura, who Naraku sent to retrieve Kohaku's shard. As Kohaku is running, he finds himself surrounded by Naraku's bees. Sango saves him in the nick of time and has Kagome take him to safety, Kagome and Kohaku soon find a cave to hide it. In the cave, Kohaku remembers hearing Naraku ordering him to kill Kagome! He enters a trance and prepares to attack Kagome.
Sango and Kirara fight of demons in the woods, while Inuyasha and Miroku face off against Kagura (see episode 49). Meanwhile, an injured Kagome runs away from Kohaku (see episode 49). Before Kohaku can strike Kagome again (he already got her once in the arm), Sango arrives. Kohaku runs off and Sango runs off, but not before apologizing to Kagome. Inuyasha and Miroku fight of the demons and try to make it seem like Kohaku is still in their hut. Thanks to Shippo, Kagura learns of Inuyasha's situation with Tetsusaiga (see episodes 44 and 45). One of the demons manages to slip by Miroku and destroy the house, revealing that Kohaku isn't inside. Miroku and Inuyasha soon discover that Naraku sent Kagura and the demons to distract Inuyasha while Kohaku, who is still under his control, kills Kagome. Inuyasha runs off to help Kagome and Miroku sucks the demons into his Air Void, despite the fact that Naraku's bees are among the horde. Kagura decides to take off. Inuyasha finds Kagome, who tells him to stop Sango from killing Kohaku because despite having the opportunity to kill her he didn't so Kohaku has some of his heart left! Sango catches up to Kohaku and the two fight. Sango eventually pins Kohaku down and prepares to move in for the kill. Sango wants to kill Kohaku so he can be free from Naraku's control, but she tells him that he won't die alone because she will be joining him soon. Before the tearful Sango can finish off Kohaku, Inuyasha arrives and knocks her sword away. Kohaku jumps back and Kagura appears to take him away. Kagura explains that Kohaku doesn't want to remember his past since it's too painful (see episode 24), and his blank mind makes him the perfect puppet. After the two take off on Kagura's feather, Inuyasha tells Sango that because Kohaku still has a heart he will bring him back from Naraku alive. Elsewhere, Naraku asks Kohaku why he didn't kill Kagome like ordered. Naraku wonders if Kohaku still wants to remember, so Naraku then returns Kohaku's memory. Kohaku immediately goes into shock, so Naraku takes them away. However, there's one thing that Kohaku cannot forget, Sango's crying face.
