The senate, appalled by Caesar's plans to redistribute the wealth and land of Rome to its citizens, plots to have him assassinated. His last dying words to a former slave and gladiator Tyrannus - now a free man - is to protect his nephew Octavius, his successor to the throne. The senate seeks revenge to all of Caesar's bloodline, forcing Tyrannus and Octavius to flee the city and seek allies amongst those few still loyal to Caesar.
Atia, Caesar's sister and Octavius' mother, has kept his will hidden and safe from the senate. When she is coerced to speak to the public at his funeral, she reveals that Caesar names Octavius as his heir, much to the disappointment of Marc Anthony, one of Caesar's generals and closest friends.
Octavius and Tyrannus, seeking allies at the Roman countryside, are captured at General Magonius' farm, and imprisoned in the gladiator battle dungeons of Arkham. Disguising themselves as simple slaves, they must escape the dungeons without their true identities being revealed.
Marc Antony saves Octavius and Tyrannus, and lets them stay at his villa in the countryside. Tyrannus distrusts his host, and after an argument with Octavius and Antony, he decides to leave.
Octavius is bitten by a poisonous snake but he is saved by Camane. Marc Antony's soldiers arrive intent on assassinating Octavius. Camane intercedes, allowing the Emperor to escape and possibly later to claim his throne.
Octavius relinquishes the beautiful Vestal Virgin, Camane, so that he can devote himself to being the Emperor of Rome. Tyrannus, the former slave and gladiator, joins Octavius' forces in their fight against the power-hungry Marc Antony, with the fate of Rome and the western world hanging in the balance.
